1000 bears similarities with Joy. yet they are nevertheless very different. Launched respectively in 1972 and 1930 I believe to have read the incentive to launch these perfumes was the same. it had to be an exceptional perfume. the Advertisement for 1000 states that '[it is] so rare. and available to so few.... each flacon is registered'. for Joy in the Advertisement it was stated that '[it was] the costliest perfume in the world'. and a shared Advertisement for both stated the same. they were both 'the costliest'. According to Sergey Borisov, '[Patou] justified the rarity of the fragrance with the help of Osmanthus Absolute - according to legend, its production in China was then small, and its supply was enough to make only 1,000 bottles a year.' this is above all a refined and luxe floral perfume. Grasse Rose, Jasmine and the above mentioned Osmanthus Absolute form a sensitive Cœur. other florals used are the nervous Lily of the Valley, the equally ephemeral Violet and Geranium. an Apricot reinforces the already somptuous Osmanthus. then Patchouli, Sandelwood and Oak offer a solid forestrial bed whereupon all these Dramatic and precisely more Demure Floral characters can repose. for hours on end already rivulets of micro aerated whiffs send the finest flowery impressions. I always could buy as well '1000' as Joy easily. Dior and LVMH have done nothing to change that. this is a Dame Classique. I love her. (I will dissociatively, forever be a Joy-person.)

right after spritzing it became clear that the Intense version of Mauboussins Promise Me derives from the sophisticated and Lady Like Classic perfume Promise Me yet adds an even more profound perfumial Imprint. right away you smell a very Posh and Opulent Rose-Oud accord. (Black Rose, I once had one !) it is not like a Montale (which I all love) but more demure and very subtly concipiated like the Rose-Oud Hayari Rose-Chic and the fine Rose-Oud from Alexandre J, Rose-Oud which listed first no Oud, yet in its deLuxe version of this perfume, Oud is present but also very sophisticated. it is difficult to understand how such sparse the Number of Notes, can bring such Layered, Blended and Refined perfume. I guess, being a Haute Joaillerie-Parfum, only the highest quality of ingredients were used. it progresses from its Classy and Refined sister Promise Me, also proposes a Lady Like Palette, and in retrospect defining thát perfume (Promise Me) as really special and palpative perfume with a Blousy yet Grande Dame Palette, back as a worthy perfume. nevertheless is this perfume still more my cup of tea. a grandiose experience.

this is a wonderfully rich smelling perfume which I now just blind bought without a tester next to it. but it was a 'steal'. and online I immediately bought the Promise Me Intense with another Note-Build-Up. but already this perfume immediately won me over at home. I think the bottle is lovely over the top and its tackiness is less urgent when you have the 3oz90mL. (then the Bottle is more Oblong and the Gold-tone embellishments seem more refined.) then this Design has more allure. it was sheer luck Rose is the top note. I do not (yet) understand where its' rich, striataed, undulating character comes from with so less notes. Sicilian Mandarin, Rose, White Heliotrope, Patchouli and that is it. I guess the blending techniques, the rich aromatics of the Rose, Heliotrope and Patchouli can show much faces. at least I loved it at first sniff. I have a penchant for the perfumes of Luxe Jewelery Houses. I love them all. (well, not all.) the Classic Mauboussin has always been in my Collection. here we have a same kind of Elegance, Ladylike Detachement, Allure and one of a kind Effervescence. the Rose & Patchouli combo is a Classic.
