Black Opium Eau De Parfum Over Red

I'm a big Black Opium range fan and I do LOVE a cherry scent done well, but this one just doesn't quite hit the mark for me. I genuinely do like it.. I can't think of many people this would offend.. but, honestly, it just doesn't wow me. It does blast open with a very bright candy cough syrup cherry (like Rouge Smoking but WAY lighter!!), which it is dramatic and very good indeed. Unfortunately, on me at least, that stage lasts about as long as a sneeze, and beyond that it just kinda settles back to smelling just like the OG. It is definitely worth sampling, and even a travel size to spritz to keep that opening stage alive, but I honestly couldn't justify a full bottle.

I think this is a fantastic perfume with nuclear power. I never smelled coffee in neither Black Opium, Black Opium le Parfum, the neon-green Black Opium nor, now, the Black Opium over-red. but that is something amnostic with the coffee... You certainly smell an onslaught of cherry, just as I like my perfumes to be. Rather than Orange Blossom I smell the jasmine immediately. I think in coordination with the orange blossom. it is a heavy and heady perfume, bringing back memories to Opium, Giorgio, Poison, Boudoir and even Mahora. the Cherry and Vanilla are the main course. it certainly isn't gone after 30 minutes. hours later it is still lingering. lovely lovely lovely. the notes are well macerated to give you a power experience. Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Over Red 6 hours in and I can easily detect the cherry, vanilla, the white flowers and patchouli. the green neon Black Opium is called 'Illicit Green'. I love them all.

A pleasant, sweet gourmand and unmistakably another Black Opium addition. It doesn’t break away from or reinvent the DNA of the line; instead, it extends the familiar coffee‑sweet narrative in a soft, approachable way. The added cherry nuance brings a fruity brightness that lifts the composition, giving it a playful twist while still keeping the cozy, dessert‑like character intact. It feels like a natural continuation of the series—comforting, creamy, and easy to enjoy for anyone who already appreciates the Black Opium universe.
