Gardenia

when this perfume came under my nose, I had already read about it in the fashion magazines. I guess I bought it right away in 2006 for a preposterously high price, while that never stopped me in my tracks. I have worn it regularly but sparsely, while I wanted to 'spare' it. I am not that Dutch Grocery Type 'every cent counts' person. (if such person either exists. Dutch persons are liberally Givers. I would rather go out of food than for instance, twice, buy the La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Crème Pour Le Visage @550 guilders first, then, ironically, 550 Euros after 2000. 50mL. with such Jar you do quite some time ! but this perfume I considered as a Jewel. and it is, flacon plus perfume. it is not such diaphanous Gardenia as in Chanel's Gardénia. from that Édition I bought the parfum while it still wasn't in the Les Exclusives, in Paris. but this is a rather full bodied, lovely creamy Gardenia. all rounded out and supported by Rose, Iris, Jasmine, African Orange Flower and Ylang Ylang. hence its fullness. I guess all these flowers are supportive to the easily distinguisable Gardenia. what you first smell and lastly. its elegance tells us that only the most precious, but also not headily Indolic, until almost wilted, type of flowers are used. while I precisely love such Flower Perfumes with ripened, heady, heft and a tad of rot in it, the most. this perfume has yet conquered my heart. if you want it more decayed then you have to think about J.A.R. Jardenia, Golconda & Diamond Water of which I have a decant 10mL $ 225. or else 'Un Gardénia' roomspray by Dominique Ropion for Éditions de Parfum by Frédéric Malle. or else by Il Profvmo, Gardenia Royal Osmo. these are more photorealistic Gardenias. and yet this particular perfume annexes a Niche within. elegant and still very close to the original. it is a real treasure. it is a fabulous perfume.
