Lalique by Lalique opens with a strikingly fresh-spicy accord, where bay leaf takes center stage—confident, aromatic, and unmistakably green. It is delicately lifted by pink pepper and bergamot, creating a composition that feels both crisp and faintly smoked. This opening alone signals a masterclass in classical perfumery: bold, distinctive, and impeccably composed. The transition is seamless. Bay leaf softens into heliotrope, shifting from aromatic sharpness into a diffused floral haze. Almond and jasmine soon emerge, elevating the fragrance into a more textured, luminous realm. The almond is not sweetened or heavy but green and almost pulp-like, as if its milky sap were still flowing. Jasmine follows in a distinctly late twentieth-century style—bright, crystalline, and edged with a golden clarity that recalls the grandeur of its 80s and 90s heyday. The base deepens the narrative with remarkable sophistication. Vanilla appears fully matured—spiced rather than sugared—interwoven with sandalwood and green patchouli. Together they suggest a new exotic and oriental dimension shaped with precision and elegance by a perfumer unafraid to expand the boundaries of his craft. Tonka bean embraces this direction, amplifying its warmth and extending its reach. Throughout, the bay and bergamot pairing remains a constant thread—fresh, lucid, and never intrusive. It neither competes nor fades, but rather sustains the fragrance’s core structure with effortless poise. The composition is versatile, well-balanced in projection and intensity, and comfortably unisex in a modern context. What is most remarkable is the clarity of each note. Every element is fully realized, distinct, and expressive, yet disciplined enough to serve the whole. It is akin to a gathering of great tenors—each voice powerful and unique, yet unified in purpose—resulting in a performance of unmatched harmony and immortal impact.

after having read an inspiring article about this perfume, which is like a Gem, I immediately bought the (very cheap) 1.7oz50mL Edp Spray. whereas Dominique Ropion is also my favorite perfumer and in 2005 I knew of the perfume, even remember where I saw it. then I had already experienced Lalique Le Baiser 1999, and did buy the Edp and even, the perfume. that was also a heavenly perfume. but now to have this wonderful perfume so exquisitely described I knew I would directly love it. and I do. at first I didn't smelled the Bay Leaf and now this morning, I do. I have discovered that some notes you mysteriously suddenly smell when you turn your pulse (almost) 180 degrees, and then yet 90 degrees is also good. what that for manoeuver is, I don't know but it has helped me several times. the Bay Leaf adds a bitterish note to the further with Pink Pepper and Bergamot spiked and freshened opening of the perfume. unfortunately I rarely smell Citrus Fruits. I have smelled Bergamot, sparsely, in other perfumes. (notably from Creed.) the Pink Pepper I do smell. but also almost immediately one smells a delicious Vanilla scent. where it is in the basenotes it surely is already soon present. but before all the Avalanches of Vanilla Gourmand perfumes here the Vanilla takes its botanical, vegetal role with the succinctly sweet and specific Orchideic aspect up and swathes it around. ("Vanilla comes from the Vanilla planifolia, a type of climbing vine that is part of the orchid family (Orchidaceae)".) the perfume is a swelthering Powder Bomb but I precisely love those perfumes. Heliotrope, Jasmine, the Almond aspect plus Tonka, Sandelwood and Patchouli give this ultrafeminine perfume a delicate complexity where it also is just this lovely feminine Vanilla Perfume before that became a Trademarked Supervanilla Gourmand note, which I do not love. when a perfume smells like food, then thank you very much. I had to laugh once about a comment: "As long as I don't smell like Last Night's Turkey-Dinner ...". and that sums the Gourmand Category up for me. yet in 2005 Lalique just struck the chord with Lalique Le Parfum. undeniably chic and just 'Vanilliairy Soft'. stupendously charming and soothing. notwithstanding a truly Fantastic Perfume.

A sweet vanilla composition—mature, feminine, and elegantly refined. It avoids the typical dessert‑like gourmand territory, instead offering a sensual, softly radiant warmth that feels timeless and carefully crafted. The fragrance envelops and gently caresses the senses in an understated, pleasant, and quietly confident way, creating an aura that is both comforting and subtly sophisticated without ever becoming overwhelming.
