since its appearance in 2000 I 'carry' this perfume in my perfumial wardrobe. around the same time approximately, Guerlains 'Mahora' came on the scene. such fabulous, bewitching, dense, cloying, rich perfumes marking the end of the aquatics and ozonones. from the start I loved this perfume and once even bought the perfume (as from Mahora). so heady do I like them. today I sniffed my wrist dozens of times and the perfume whirled up from my collar. with amazement I read the characterisation of Mauboussin as 'Fruity Chypre'. while I am 'a fruit', a homosexual man, and love plums as ingredient for perfumes [Jaipur, I believe], to me the perfume forms this well concocted as rich as mystifying pffsst of oriental, junglist, sophisticated, overperforming perfume that initiated a new century. oud would soon come to the West and the 80s (luckily) got a recall. it came to my notice, since Must and Panthère (the real Cartier Panthère) that the Haute Maisons de Joaillerie had the best perfumes. along with the veritable Maisons de Couture. Mauboussin and Boucheron, Cartier and Tiffany, Chaumet and now even Graff. Mauboussin in my experience forms a thick Brazilian tropicalismú athmosphere. the different notes Ylang, Jasmin, Rose, Plum, Mirabelle Plum, Peach, Amber and the resins and spices Canelle (Cinnamon) and Benzoin, Sandelwood and Patchouli make for a heavy heady fantastic perfume wherein each note refer to the other. these perfumes make this whole echelon 'fun'. Mahora did her part. then came the plethora of Oud-Roses (from Montale, preferrably), and my sense of gorgeous smell was forever fulfilled.
