In the "Picture of Dorian Grey" there is a line by Lord Henry in Chapter 2: - "You have a wonderfully beautiful face... Beauty is a form of Genius—is higher, indeed, than Genius, as it needs no explanation. It is one of the great facts of the world..." This is what I see "Gris Dior" like, - there is something flawlessly groomed yet emotionally remote about it, as if the fragrance keeps everyone at a beautiful distance, and at the same time building up the attraction and craving of those around it. Oakmoss and patchouli with bergamot haze create wormwood-coloured opening. Oakmoss is an unusually soft and silver-downy like. You can almost feel its cushiony coolness under the fingertips. The composition grows more enigmatic: dry and bright woods, polished young cedar and aristocratic sandalwood lighten the herbaceousness of the top notes, making them lighter and more structured. Amber and rose are fused together, adding warmth and depth to the fragrance with subtle feel of the petals. The skin-close projection of "Gris Dior" does not take away or diminish its fullness and intensity. The notes are most ingeniously blended, the scent is impeccable and flawless, leaving an impression of a man who never ages, never blushes, and never truly lets you see the passions and demons beneath the pristine surface of his exquisitely handsome face.
