Cedrus Blanc opens on aldehydes of rare refinement: almost dewy at first, then weightless, airy and immaculately fresh. There is none of the abrasive, chemical sharpness that so often compromises aldehydic compositions; instead, the effect feels luminous, clean and quietly polished. Bergamot is rendered with exquisite precision—clear, crisp and perfectly etched into the architecture of the top notes. I do not perceive orange fruit so much as a vision of delicate orange blossom: lightly indolic, soft at the edges and carefully veiled beneath the taut brilliance of bergamot. Their union is among the most impeccably executed bergamot-and-orange-blossom accords I have encountered. For me, these are aldehydes to admire and value: elegant, restrained and entirely free from theatrics. Cedrus Blanc is definitively unisex, with the kind of effortless versatility one hopes for yet rarely finds. It is polished enough for a formal setting, but possesses sufficient ease and intimacy to become an everyday signature. The soapy, citric-aldehydic accord takes an unexpected turn through cedarwood, which introduces an unorthodox, almost tactile powderiness. The cedar itself feels young and supple—steady at its core, but never musty, excessively green or washed out. It gives the composition structure without hardening it, and softness without allowing it to become vague. Its intensity is beautifully judged and its longevity excellent. On my skin, it seems to deepen and even increase in presence as it settles into the warmth of the skin. The projection extends beyond the skin, yet remains measured, contained and impeccably mannered. Cedrus Blanc is a laconic, elegant perfume: composed rather than performative. Toward the end, it takes on an almost body-lotion-like softness in the drydown, while preserving its powdery mystery and introducing an unexpected breezy swirl of musk. It is clean, but never sterile; soft, but never bland; and understated in precisely the way true elegance should be.
