How shall one speak of being’s sheer delight, of Khair Felicity, bright joy made near? Champagne and freesia, in heavenly light, unbar the gates to Heavens, soft and clear. They sparkle, playful, joyful, sly and fair, with mischief and with ether’s tender breath; And cassis lends that something in the air, a note half-known, yet present in the wreath. I see the forest nymphs in dance and flight, their silver laughter crystal-like and free, As though the wood itself were made of light, and joy had found its voice in reverie. Then jasmine comes, and rose in gracious white, by musk made whole, and elegant, and right. They are not cloying, nor they cling too fast, but sweetly charm with poise and measured grace; Their seduction here is refined, it lasts, a beauty calm, with angel's face. To me they seem like blossoms faintly sweet, a little drunk on sunshine's golden heat, Yet balanced still, and beautiful in place. Then come vanilla, sugar, soft and light, while flowers yet remain the ruling theme; Thus does it flee a gourmand’s heavy might, and bloom instead delectable a dream. It lends a facet tender, sweet, and fair, that suits the whole and deepens all its air; Enhancing jasmine, rose, and musk’s soft gleam with cloudy sweetness, like a waking dream. Its breath so good; its silken train, - a perfect cloak, embracing tender heart; It lures, does not strike with force or thrust, a “come to me” in whisper's gentle art. No roar it gives, no shout breaking air, but quiet magnetism, subtle and rare. It suits the spring and summer’s burning sun, embraces autumn, winter’s cooler tide; Yet in the warmth, the jasmine and rose run with greater voice, and lead the rest in flight. It fits the night, the date, the party’s glow; for merchant's halls - I simply do not know. And how it would in summer rain abide, I find myself still wondering tonight. The settling is serene, and ever fair: vanille with musk in tender waltz entwined, Slow sinking like a lover’s tender care, and measured melting into skin and mind. With me it stays for hours, at the least, and on my garments simply knows no cease. So heed well what you wear it upon, lest its persistent kiss makes you bemoan. Khair Felicity so youthful, not naive; lively, but never foolish in its smile; Entrancing - never one to grieve the senses with attention’s gaudy style. It's an Italian sonnet by the sea, beneath a balcony in Venice, spirit free: Romantic, dreamy, timeless and refined, a joy that lingers softly in the mind.
