The opening is an exquisite study in melon: honeydew and watermelon rendered with striking, almost photorealistic clarity, accompanied by a faint pickle-like accord that feels unexpectedly refreshing. There is an impressive density to the fruit—a sense of its sweetness and watery flesh being compacted into a remarkably full-bodied projection. The scent soon moves into more exotic, aqueous territory, with freesia and cyclamen expanding and deepening the sweet accord. The florals arrive as one: voluptuous, indulgent and silken. Carnation lends a delicate spiciness, tracing a shimmering shadow behind the composition, while lily of the valley and lotus support its aquatic character with a presence that is delicate yet assured. Ylang-ylang and peony form a sweet, sparkling duet, bringing a sugary brightness without disturbing the lush, water-filled impression. There is remarkable intensity and richness here for such an exotic, aqueous profile—a style that feels all but lost in modern perfumery. Spicy tuberose leads towards a warm, luxurious base of sandalwood and amber, yet the fragrance never relinquishes its refreshing character. Even in the drydown, now exotically green, the melons remain impressively vivid and persistent. A delectable summer and holiday fragrance, yet far more versatile than that description might suggest. Distinctive, beautifully composed and unmistakably high-quality, this is one I am inclined to keep to myself—save for a select few fellow perfume enthusiasts.
