Review of oud edition by aad de gids

oud edition from Montale (2021, parfumo) is a refined perfume wherein the oud and rose play somewhat more submissive roles but are nevertheless indistinguishable. for some reason with 'Leather' I always have an 'Ah ... yes' response. in that I seem to not come up with it so easily and afterwards it is quite obvious. I would say the Leather I smell here is almost a 'Framboise inside of a Chanel -Hermès -LouisVuitton -Versace Hand Bag type of Leather' mostly achieved with Iris and Violet (Memo's French Leather, Chanel's Misia, Hermès's Barynia) and here with a stealthy Rose (for Montale that is). but I always pick up on Rose, no matter how minute her presence is (Rosehip) and it shall never be minute. the perfume notwithstanding develops rather quickly in a more substantial Leather perfume with all the elegance this can be mustered. that is why Arabians Rose appear in the comparisons. but you can also discern a fermly woody Oud, for instance Oud Assam. the other important ingredient is Incense which 'pulverizes' all the notes in a satin cloud of Powderiness with help from the Rose. Sandelwood of course does also support a soft and woody granulary effect, which make this perfume highly elegant and sophisticated. Montale had always also have such type of perfumes, next to the ones I so love, the screeching Rose-Ouds. but Nepal Oud, Oud Pashmina, Oud Damascus, Oudmazing were always amongst the scathing screechers and I ALL love them.
