Review of Crazy in Love by aad de gids

this is a typical Montale perfume and yet a sidestep of it. its brash and even scathing beginning is as loud and alarmistic as you'd expect from Montale. it indeed is this gargantuesque, omnipresent, attention-grabbing Rose in all her splendour and Sinisterium. I always loved Montale and with this perfume I still do. then, as it also was described by Elena Prokofeva in her brilliant review, above to be linked, the Rose quadruples and Millefeuille times on Steroids Multiplies and Fluidisize in an all embracing and all Contortionist hold. it is all still Montale. then the real poison is in the Saffron, which I always love and still here, also am stupefied. a Saffron estoupoufflante, étourdissante and asphyxiante. the saffron takes a mean bite, it becomes sharper and sharper it even gets an Oudy characteristic. see now that Montale NEVER said there is oud in here when there wasn't and neither there is no oud in here when there was. he just knows how to swirl with spices and his (and mine) flower, the rose, has thousand faces. she also looks around the corner in her most sophisticated 'Rose de Mai' aspect, when to have the entire perfume initiated with a dropdead whore rose. the saffron gets mean as that there are metallic notes, a desert like dryness, a BLOCK of spices. then suddenly there is the Brown Sugar, druggifying an already hypnotic perfume. I went, against Elena's tip, into a funeral of a dear friend of mine, the next day, weaponed to the teeth wearing THIS perfume. they know me and B wouldn't have wanted elsewise. now, after days having worn Crazy in Love and studying her, I suddenly spritzed on Oudmazing and then the one perfume defines the other. Oudmazing is soft, has resemblances with Mona di Orio's (a shame the Maison closes) 'Nuit Noire' and Juliette has a Gun's 'Lady Vengeance'. soft, complex and chic. while this Barbie Hooker perfume appears as herself: hard, spikey, obnoxious and opaque pink: to die for.
