the perfume, stemming from 2014, also the time at which I shall have bought it. I repeated a test I did a couple of days ago with 'Jean-Louis Scherrer 2': stepping in bed having spritzed the perfume and trying to guess what Notes I did smell. but here I needed a little more help so I sneeked out of bed and peeked for the necessary time at the Notes for additional information I apparently needed. the problem was this: I completely remembered the perfume as how I had left it off. I had worn it several times. but with enough perfumes in your collection the swiping system can be cruel and unbewillst, haphazourdly so. I remembered having quite liked this perfume. and I discovered I still do but with a Hump on the Way, last Night shall we say. what came unto me was this THICK, inimpenetrable WALL of the scent of Leather, the Rose who could barely lift her head up. where I never thought 'the perfume is turned' or 'it is ENTIRELY different from what I remember' somehow the sensation made another impression on me. until time (glued to my wrist) solved the most questionnable quircks and I was proud to remember almost all notes for having peeked not only, but also SMELLING them, successively. next to this I thought about 'leather-perfumes' and how they often used isobutyl-quinolyne, birch-tar, and all kinds of Leather (that were 'cured'). in general the Leather note is obtained by: "Synthetic or naturally derived note of pungent characteristics, reminiscent of cured hides and leather goods.Usually rendered by birch tar or by synth isoquinolines." (fragrantica) so I was thinking with my pulse still to my nose: in how far would and could they use Real Leather in a Leather perfume. and here we see the answer, they could and they would and Alienor Massenet did. and what in any case is crystal clear: it is Suede what I am smelling. they use flowers like Osmanthus, Violets, Orris and Iris, to counterbalance the pungent tarryness of the Leather. here that would be the Rose. and I DID SMELL THE ROSE. but in time the perfume got better and more subtle. I suspect it was a CRUNCH of hubris again in the fragrance dispenser. the perfume in my house, this perfume, is ten years old. so I am becoming sort of specialist in how to treat old perfumes. in short: spritz spritz and give them time. what I found mysterious: the Juniper, Clary Sage, and Pink pepper I have seen now used in many Leather perfumes. then the Lime, ah the Lime. shall we say I smelled a certain freshness in THE WALL, THE MONOLITH which greeted me last night. then of course the Musk. I think I comprise it best if I said again I didn't smelled it nor the shenanigans it possibly set in motion. at a certain moment I smelled pencil-shavings (the cedar) and Vetiverian machinistics, rooting it all to where the perfume finally was born from: the base, the Ground, the Earth and this Resinous quasi-sweet perfume. all in flickerings interspersing the WALL. the Rose was persevering. the biggest Mérite of this perfume is the smell of the Chic Suede, the inside of a hyper expensive Chanel, Hermès or, and Dior Ladies' Handbag. plus the paraphernalia that belong inside the exquisitely lined interior. (I remember also I chose between Italian, Irish and another early MEMO Leather perfume and I found this one the best.) my MEMO story begun on a holiday with my then 12 years old Niece (she is exspecting a baby NOW) and my straight Twinbrother. he gave me the MEMO Lalibela. and that was such nice start of my liaisons with their expensive perfumes. it was the funniest holiday of my life. my 10th visit to Paris where they came for the first time and Bas, my brother, Rattled away in French as if he had lived there for thirty years....
