this is a monolith of a perfume. I guess you have to be an Oud-Lover for it to fully appreciate the perfume and smell it's particular facets. at first I missed the Rose, being an ardent Montale lover and also admirer of the famous and infamous Oudh Infini from Parfums Dusita. beneath someone mentioned that this could be the brother of Oudh Infini and I had to laugh very hard. but also without the rose and after some time getting acquainted, I can now fully appreciate this dense and present perfume and am able to smell distinctive features within the perfume. the Oud is extraverted, fecal, barnyard and Band-Aid quality. yet you will learn, as I did with Montales from off 2003, that you do not have to smell the perfume immediately close by your wrist. (and with Montale this is yet not necessary for these perfumes come after and in your nostrils soon enough.) maybe this goes for any perfume (and especially the heady, dense, thick, cloying, bewitching and whorey perfumes I love). but we were talking about Oud. yes it is present here and it personifies the Monolithic Character of this perfume for a great deal. but what I learned in due time, is that this perfume has many facets. be it, that they all seem to reside in the amberous resinoid forestfloor athmospheres. which is okay with me. I must say Coriander, Lavender and Geranium go alongside me. yet this doesn't mean the geranium doesn't constitute a Rose-aspect here. in a supportive, stealth way. (I am used to Rose and Oud domineering the entire rooms and spaces where we then reside in.) but here these stealth aspects play an interesting part. now and then I seem to get a whiff of lavender and coriander (mandarin-like). Labdanum, Incense, Myrrh, they already begin within an hour to cement on the ambery resinous as well putrid as Petrichor-like underground of the perfume. but if this perfume makes one thing clear: while the Oud stays present, the whole evens out in a lovely and mysterious balm like sillage. Labdanum can not be underestimated (le Labo). yet also neither the solidifying effect of Patchouli and the feeling of calm woodiness of Sandelwood. this is yet another Oud that I love. I love brother (Oud Extravagante) and sister (Oudh Infini).
