this is a wonderful perfume. I started with 'Eau d'Ambre Extrème' which is of course just as smashing. then I got this flacon by misreading the lack of the suffix 'extrème'. first I was disappointed but that wasn't necessary as it would soon appear. this is just as full and rich an amber perfume and probably even better than the rest. a pleasant discovery I did these last days: it lasts forever and the drydown is very finely facetted into the resins and balms of an amber. as I understood Amber is a (1) composited note, of resins (gurjum, benzoin, myrrh, incense and with varous shifting other silkroute-Arabian products of trees and other plants [patchouly]); (2) the real fossilized amber sticking to trees in which often insects are for millions of years frozen in time. what I have read is that they can use this either 'fresh' or precisely those hard, millions of years old, lumps. off which are shaven littlest figments and these then to be heated or be used in the tiniest of morsels. (3) various modern, chemical molecules or complexes as Ambroxan® and Paradisone®. (4) Ambergris. the 'vomit' in the stomach of spermwhales, which these animals intermittently cough up and then this 'matter' (I am a nurse so I am not in the least shocked hahahahaha) emerges on beaches. thát shall reek fishy and of octopuses; but when it is dried for long times [cf. orris roots becoming a refined iris scent] the ever hardening lumps give off the finest perfume [and also costly] as is known. these variants of amber delivered fabulous perfumes. in this perfume all the components are to be smelled if in macerate, mixed way or separatively. In this perfume thevanilla works hard with the amber yet the geraniol and patchouly add rosy and spicey accents. I love it.
