Scarlet Poppy

This fragrance blends the vibrant scent of poppy with a deep, sensual. Jo Malone likely envisioned a vast landscape of shimmering, vibrant crimson poppies blooming in golden wheat fields. Since poppies themselves have no scent, in the world of perfumery, "poppy" is often described as a "powdery, soft floral." This description reflects the delicate and lovely nature of the poppy, and the bottle is a deep crimson color reminiscent of the flower. In contrast to the color of the bottle, a milky scent emanates from it. The top notes of heliotrope, ambrette, iris, and tonka bean gently unfold like a rounded, milky veil, releasing a soft, subtly sweet fragrance. The warm, savory scent of barley provides a perfect balance, preventing the sweetness from becoming overwhelming. This impression evokes warmth and softness, much like human skin. Enveloped in this veil is the scent of fig, adding a vibrant elegance. The defining characteristic of this fragrance is its gentle, light touch. As time passes, this mellow, milky veil transforms into a more sublime tone reminiscent of honey and pollen. Fig provides a truly floral foundation to this fragrance. The captivating blend of fig and powdery notes is imbued with a subtle coconut-like smoothness. In my personal interpretation, this doesn't so much represent the poppy itself, but rather the overwhelming beauty and captivating moment of witnessing a vast landscape of deep crimson poppies in full bloom. A faint scent of wheat, reminiscent of a wheat field, wafts through this smooth veil, creating an enchanting atmosphere.

This is one of my favourites by Jo Malone. The blend of red poppy and tonka bean creates a very feminine, warm, and easy to wear composition. Unfortunately, like most fragrances from the brand, it doesn’t excel in longevity. It’s a subtle scent, like a quiet compliment you only notice when someone is very close. It lasts up to around four hours and becomes skin scent fairly quickly.

Sexy warm delectable thing, this is my second bottle of Scarlet Poppy. I love her & i can’t be without her. Like other reviewers mentioned SP is comforting, creamy, and there is just something so alluring about this scent. I will say this though, SP shines on skin the most & actually has great longevity. I find It turns into an “ugly” scent on synthetic clothing like polyester. I find it truly shines better on skin and anything cotton. Hope that helps :)
