this is not so much a 'Flanker' from a perfume out of 1912, but got launched in 2004 and what they have in common is a certain Regality achieved with the Noble Perfume Notes. here we have two iterations of Houbigants stature as venerated, classic Maison de Parfums. the perfume has the same inpact of the much older Classic. what I did smell was an acidic whoop in spritzing but then I bought this perfume probably precisely in 2004, the year of its Launch. so that whole (synthetic, more likely the aromachemicals, used) whoosh is now disappeared to reveil a rich, flowery perfume with definitely a Stature of 'Houbigantness' and I would say all the power flowers come to the fore: Rose, Tuberose, Jasmine, the soft powderiness of the Orris Root, then a somewhat more monothematic but sturdy base in Woodiness (Sandel), Muskiness and Amber. the Honey it also has similar with her much older sister, yet more articulated as 'White Mimosa Honey'. (and yes you can smell the differences in Origins of Honey, when buying a 'Specialty Honey'.) they were able to preserve a certain Haute Regality within the very perfume. the initial Hesperide-opening go entirely alongside me and my partially anosmic nose. somehow I do not pick up on Fruit easily. yet as a synthesis of all the Quality Notes combined this definitely gives a refined and classic superimposition Honoring the Original, as we can conclude.
