this surely wasn't a perfume for me. but then quickly it became one. concipiated by Maurice Roucel whose perfumes I seem to love. but perhaps more interestingly, under the helm of thèn Creative Director for Gucci Tom Ford, the perfume fell under his lush-louche 'Porn Chic' with which esthetics he revitalized Gucci as fashionbrand. while the Greenness and Freshness of Envy initially wrought me away, I now see that the knife sharp arriving Greenness is complemented with a Plethora of Fruits and (more important) Flowers and that the Musk, Oakmoss, Cedar & Sandelwood give this cissor sharp perfume a tough backbone. but it was especially the name, the sexualized 'Envy', which draw me in. Green, due to Oakmoss, Hyacinth, even Lily of the Valley, the perfume soon would enter this just fabulous athmosphere of a Night out in a seedy bar. I even had the Edp (Matte Black flacon) and perfume (transparent thick polished glass with 0.5oz15mL content) with its own Transparent Plastic Sarcophagus. this was the Marketing Genius of Tom Ford. the Advertising was breathtaking. so that is how a counterintuitive perfume reached Stellar Status in my collection of perfumes, soon to be followed by both Rushes.
