this marvelously smelling amber perfume I must have bought in 2007. the Trias 'amber (Ambre Fetiche), frankincense (Encens Flamboyant), and myrrh (Myrrhe Ardente)' was just released and it was the combination of the name and the scent that immediately hauled me over to Ambre Fétiche. in the little shop for Niche Parfums of Lianne Tio in the Center of Rotterdam. it was still the rectangular bottle with ornate and tightly glued label in a Fin-De-Siècle style that also enamored me to the perfume. but since Calvin Kleins Obsession (1982) (still the reference Amber for me) this came pretty close and yesterday again I made the same discovery that there is still so much in the flacon and it is yet still the ininterrupted Totem of a bewitchingly rich Amber Perfume. what I clearly could smell was Amber, Labdanum, Vanilla (far, far before the 'Vanilla- Go- Crazy- As- How- You- Also- Sweeten- Desserts' rage), a botanical, enlivening, sweet (not anti-dental sweet) SUBSTANCE. I could smell Resins (Olibanum, Styrax, Frankincense) and the Patchouli as Magician which blends all together if that also not already had happened in 18 years in my home ! Iris and Geranium I only smelled inclusively after these notes have been grabbed in the infra dynamic processes in vitro all contributing to this Legendary, Intoxifying Perfume nowhere gratifying the initial and still beheld (despite the change in Glassworks) prissy, Bon Chic Bon Genre style of Annick Goutal with which the Legacy first had taken form: nothing for me to be honest. again thus this frugal use of this perfume which I so loved from the start. I must say I have (had) two perfumes of AG that passed the Limits of my Taste in the good way (my god that sounds so wrong): Songes and her Tubéreuse (1984) that I shall now also immediately review. with what pressures Perfumeries or Perfume Fabricating Brands have all to do with Changing the whole Styles of their 'Verrerie' (Bottles) and then, psychotically incomprehensable, very soon thereafter, again other bottles. not at Goutal but some new owners must have gone crazy. it is the Multinational New Owners of Violent Takeovers that pretend to give form to Dormant Brands. a study in itself. at least, Ambre Fétiche 2007, Tubéreuse 1984 and Songes 2006 were and are Spectacular Perfumes despite their new Abhorrant Housings and in the case of Tubéreuse, its demise.
