what insanely fabulous perfume is this ! with 290 perfumes this has to be my final Buy of a 100mL Full Bottle definitely where I am also turning 68 years today. and really, it would be ridiculous if I would still Ride High to Acquire the Last, the Best, the Highest, the Extremest, the this and that perfume to my collection which now usurpates me with my full joy and passion. but what final Acquisition it is. yesterday I sat for hours in its smooth, noble, Aldehydic Clôche of a Guy Robert perfume (á la Hermès's Calèche, Doblis [not that I ever smelled it], Hermès's L'Eau) with their legendary suppleness, austerity, sophistication. I did however, unlike most admirers, recognized its correlations with Chanel No5, the fizziness and intricate connectedness of Notes Iris (here Orris), Roses, Lily of the Valley, Ylang Ylang, Aldehydes (White Musc), Jasmine, Oakmoss and Sandelwood, plus Civet (or Civetone) and Patchouli. then it is better to extrapolate quite abstractly about this very jewel of a perfume. I remember it from the 1980s yet never came about to buy it. you had a website then, 'Parfums Raffi. com' [no, it says 'since 1998'] and it was also already cleopatras boudoir. blogspot. com, which gave ample information about perfumes. the whole pyrotechnics of this perfume attracted me very much but then, I just had LIVED the 1980s. I had smelled so many heady, sultry, intoxicating, clinging, syrupy, vilely indolic, poisonously oversaturated, that somehow Amouage Gold Woman shove to the background. now I am conscious the present Edition is a New Edition and I have never smelled the 1983 perfume but in my experience already this perfume is exemplary and exquisely refined and embodying a Hauteté that it shares with other overflowered Aldehydic perfumes 'of those days' yet for me in the first place (and I smelled the Chanel in 1974 when it was still loaded with civet) Chanel No5, COCO, Madame Rochas, Calèche (although I see a majority of perfume Connaisseurs choose this perfume to liken it to AGW, I totally understand but the remaining softness, powderiness, aldehydic fluffiness make me more pliable for comparison with No5), but also, in diversion, Amouage Gold Woman to be compared with Y, Ivoire, White Linen, all the Hookers from the 1980s. the perfume itself, because I would concentrate on abstract musings about HER, is a mesmerizing, athmospheric, soothing, pollenizing evidence of a superior perfume. and (new Edition or not) enduringly so. it enlevens you, levitates you, if that is a better word, toward that stratosphere where minuscule seedlets, pollens, microzomes, microbiomes, vegetal functions and aromachemicals hover and drape themselves in rivulets of Gold and Silver Glittering Flower fragrances. Roses, the Lily of the Vallet piquant, the Ylang Ylang round and almost somewhat fatty with the Aldehydes (just like in Marions-Nous from Oriza L.Legrand) a never ending Dance of Powderiness (Orris), Roundedness (Ambergris, White Musc and Civet) and just this Ballerina Footprint of a Heaved Presence of dervisj like swirlings. the Incense draws its lines throughout the whole machinations of the perfume making it an Omani-Parisian perfume. Myrrh and Labdanum give that another dimension, from the Mid-East as also Orientalistic. the posh Classicism of a Madame in the end of the 20th Century however prevalesce. due to the mastership of Guy Robert.
