One of the better takes on the Aventus DNA! Personal: 8/10 - It's a great citrus forward, generic, non-polarizing designer fragrance. Mass appeal: 9/10 – Again, it's generic and citrus heavy which sets it up to be something almost nobody hates. Performance: 6.5/10 - nothing to write home about. Typical for freshies. Value: 7/10 – At discounter prices, this is far from the best value fresh cheapie, but it's not a bad option if you enjoy the Aventus DNA. Uniqueness: 6/10 - at best a slightly different take on what's otherwise one of the most cloned DNAs. Points for making it more appealing to me, however. SCORE: 73/100 Full bottle buy? YES, though it's somewhat generic and unremarkable. Blind buy? YES, it's basically a more fruity citrus Aventus which most people will like. Recommend? YES, especially to someone who likes that Aventus vibe but not the smokiness. Date night? YES, casual and energetic, especially in warm weather. Shockingly mature. Office safe? YES, one of the best office scents out there that's not simply shower gel. Pros: Bright, clean, extremely fresh, and citrusy without invoking lemon Pledge similarities. Cons: Generic DNA despite being a great variation of it. Synthetic and uninspiring really. Eros Energy is a fragrance that, in a Sephora, upon first sniff, I was completely unimpressed by and frankly rather disliked. It was, in a vacuum, just another Aventus clone that left me wanting more, with a shockingly steep retail price tag. But now that I recently bought a bottle at a rather affordable price, I think I judged too harshly and too quickly. Yes, it is undoubtedly calling back to the Aventus-like citrusy fruitiness at its core, it takes away all of the smoke, all of the darkness, all of the complexity of Aventus and replaces it with something that's designer approved for mass market safety and durability. Now, it's not often that I'll actually praise a fragrance clone that *removes* complexity from what it's cloning, but as someone with a very love-hate relationship with many of Creed's fragrances, Aventus being one of the prime examples, this is simply what I love about Aventus with none of the somewhat off-putting harsher notes. It wears remarkably easily, lasts a reasonably long time, well, at least what I consider pretty fair for something so fresh and seemingly fleeting. After all, this fragrance is simply vivid but synthetic lemon, grapefruit, bergamot, and a generic ozonic accord that's present in many modern freshies. It's simple, but I'm pretty happy with it. It’s not groundbreaking, and it's distinctly different from its other Eros flankers, but if you enjoy Aventus and wish it was a bit more designer-like and less complex, then Eros Energy gives me everything I love about Aventus with nothing I hate.
