Beau de Jour - When Lavender Finally Gets Some Air First encounter was at the airport, rushed and a little underwhelming. I sprayed Beau de Jour expecting that famous lavender glow… and instead got a dense, green wall of basil, rosemary, and mint. Very herbal. Almost culinary. Not unpleasant, just not the fantasy I’d built up. Then I realised the mistake: I’d sprayed too close. Gave it another go - proper distance, some air - and everything snapped into focus. There it was. That cool, elegant lavender. Clean, crisp, quietly confident. Not soapy, not powdery. Just… right. About half an hour in, it really settles. The herbs soften, geranium adds a subtle floral warmth, and oakmoss anchors it all with a smooth, earthy polish. Classic fougère territory, but done with restraint. Think expensive shaving cream, tailored and modern. Performance is solid - 6–8 hours on skin, longer on clothes. Projection is present but controlled. It doesn’t chase attention; it knows it has it. This is masculine in a composed, grown way. Structured, aromatic, slightly bitter at the edges. Not a hug - more a nod from across the room. Full bottle? Maybe, especially for cooler weather. Tip: spray from a distance. Let it breathe. That’s where the beauty lives. More scent stories and visuals on Instagram - @lavendercloudsjd
