At first, this fragrance scared me. After several years of living in a hot climate, I was incredibly intrigued when I spotted Snowy Khata on the Baroma website. The fragrance pyramid listed snowflakes and white tea, and the scent was supposed to evoke the atmosphere of cold Tibet. I mean, isn’t that exactly what you need when it’s 37°C outside? When my long-awaited discovery set finally arrived, the first thing I did was find Snowy Khata and eagerly spray it on my skin. And within seconds, I was horrified - it was literally a nuclear eucalyptus bomb! I started coughing and ran to the bathroom to wash the perfume off as quickly as possible. I came back disappointed and genuinely sad. I had expected coolness and freshness, but instead it felt as if someone had thrown a bunch of eucalyptus branches straight into my face. Still, I decided to give it some time and tucked the little bottle away in my desk drawer to let the fragrance settle. A month later, I remembered Snowy Khata. This time, I carefully sprayed it onto my fingers. And, oh my God, it turned out to be so beautiful! The fragrance really does capture the feeling of fresh, crystalline, incredibly clean, frosty air somewhere high in the mountains. You can even sense a slight coolness in your nose. At the opening, I could still smell the eucalyptus, but this time it was much softer and more airy. The sharp camphoraceous quality was gone, leaving behind freshness and coolness. In the heart, I can sense the lily of the valley opening up ever so gently, adding a floral freshness and associations with the color white. Towards the end, the fragrance becomes more intimate and settles closer to the skin. At the same time, the white musk starts to come through, giving the fragrance a feeling of cleanliness and freshly washed skin. Snowy Khata feels like a peaceful, soothing fragrance that clears your mind and makes it easier to breathe. Honestly, it’s now my favorite fragrance from Soulvent.
