I’ll begin, unusually, with a quote: “To make an analogy, you could say that Angel Eau de Parfum is the star, while Angel MUSE orbits around the star and revolves as if around a galaxy.” — Christophe de Lataillade, Creative Director for MUGLER fragrances This comparison captures the very essence of the fragrance perfectly. If Angel is a praline, then Muse is its creamy, nut-filled heart. The assertive patchouli of Angel reappears here in a softer, more restrained form, while Angel’s multifaceted fruity opening is echoed through shimmering reflections in Muse’s grapefruit opening. This is a gentler, more enveloping composition, wrapped in a comforting, sweet veil. It feels calmer, more subdued, and quietly beautiful. Longevity is very good, though the sillage is noticeably softer than that of Angel. A true gem—one can only regret that it has been discontinued. A beautiful fragrance, well worth owning alongside Angel. I adore it.

My relationship with this fragrance, much like with the original Angel is a classic love/hate story. It’s a sweet scent with plenty of chocolate, but I wouldn’t call it a typical gourmand, as there’s a huge amount of patchouli and woody notes running through it. It’s a very distinctive, slightly quirky composition, definitely for those who enjoy bold fragrances. As much as I love stronger perfumes, I have to be in the right mood to wear this one, because the patchouli is so prominent that it can become tiring after a while. As with most Mugler perfumes, the longevity and projection are very good, although not quite as powerful as the original Angel. It’s definitely a fragrance for the autumn and winter season.
