An exceptionally charming composition built around rose. The flower is interpreted in a classic manner, yet with a certain lightness enhanced by the fresh, juicy, slightly watery notes of lychee in the opening. As the fragrance develops, it becomes sweeter and more floral, but this is a delicate garden rose rather than the syrupy, honeyed heaviness of an evening rose noir. Both the fragrance and the flacon possess a distinctive vintage charm. They remind me of mid-range perfumes from the 1990s. On the one hand, they are well made, reflecting an era when even moderately priced fragrances tended to be more carefully crafted. On the other, the thin plastic cap and the ethereal, fleeting nature of the fragrance reveal certain economies. And yet, I must emphasize that these compromises are made with grace. These are not the cheap, poor-quality materials one sometimes encounters in contemporary perfumes. The thin cap has a lovely iridescent sheen and is exceptionally pleasant to the touch. The flacon is simple yet thoughtfully finished. The fragrance fades rather quickly, but smells beautifully composed while it lasts.
