Whoever said that patchouli smelled cheap didn't know what a good perfumer can do with this note. The opening is cool (but not super fresh), with beautiful sugary lilacs. Then the heart gets warm with the patchouli, but it's a patchouli that doesn't run over you. It's a well-balanced, embracing but breathable patchouli that gives depth to the formula. The final stage smell is a nice, clean but slightly animalic musk that does not fade away. Altogether, these three notes make a simple, but beautiful and noticeable fragrance that lasts all day. Being subtle and being simple are two very different things. This scent does not walk in the room before you do, while it is like an aura that surrounds you and lets people know that you own yourself even if you are not currently taking the room (YET). Sophisticated, put together, and unique. Simplicity is a key factor when everybody smells like cupcakes and writes love poeams to vanilla. It can mean being fresh (real clean girl energy), or just flowery. This scent is great for when you don't want to feel ovestimulated but you still want to make an impression. Musky scents tend to be linear, and one-track minded. This musk is soft, well blended with the patchouli, so the three stages (opening, heart and base) are coherent and consistent. It doesn't feel like it took some steps to get there. It is like a song that changes but keeps the main identity of the melody and has a slow rythm so you can waltz around with it. I am in my simple era. Therefore, I can guarantee that this fragrance is my new love.
