I have lived within the 'clôche' of this perfume for two days to form an opinion about this, what appeared to be and really is, a lovely perfume. by a 'deed' this morning, chosing my perfume for this day, I never anticipated what happened. I chose Chanel No.5 and by spritzing that classic perfume to pulse and nape of the neck (I have to formulate that somewhat elegantly, isn't it) I suddenly got a 'vision' about No.5 and 'Gucci Bloom Ambrosia di Fiori' (Ambrosia hereafter). they both got a lift. I love flowerperfumes. I immediately smelled the superiority of No.5 but this didn't diminish the Ambrosia. I noticed the No.5 was superiorly mixed and macerated, to form an elegant and well-known, nevertheless again, superrrefined perfume and herewith we see that, for me, Chanel No.5 isn't yet, obsolete or oldfashioned. it superimposes itself on those blatant categories. but by its very chiqueness and sophistication it also affirmed my thoughts and feelings about Ambrosia. that is also a very well blended (now I have the right word) and enduring perfume. because I tested it for two days I noticed that the best thing to do was to just let this 'clôche', this bubble perfuse everything around and in it, which it did in an at first, lovely loud and pervasive tuberose intrusion and then, with the more molded and suffusive caprices of the white flower-indole scent. Jasmine and Tuberose are difficult to evade. I think the Honeysuckle was swept up by the hardheadedness of said Tuberose and Jasmine. it was a pity I never noticed the Rose and Orris, but they were of course also enveloped and on the other hand, also 'informed' the Tuberose and Jasmine. when then you compare that with No.5, here is a Jasmine and Rose that live happily ever after, with a clear and separate Ylang perfume, yet all blended to this powdery and flowery presence of a Haute Parfum. I think Ambrosia is just a perfume for these times, heady, present, 'harmonized' by Alberto Morillas. then everyone has her's, his's, own perfume history and I started in 1974 and then came of age in the 1980s with Coco, Poison, Obsession, Giorgio, Knowing, Opium, Gem, Rouge d'Hermes, all the bewitching flowery over-the-top perfumes which I loved and loved and for which the end is (for me) nowhere in sight. yet I was able to separate Ambrosia from these legends and find it a harmonious, lasting, Tuberose friendly perfume. But it also redefined No.5 for me because I suddely smelled its femininity, its Hauteté, its well blended character, and its timelessness.
