Review of Black Oregano by Olga Steinfeld

Black Oregano turned out to be different from what I had imagined. It’s not dark, not damp, and I’m genuinely glad it isn’t grassy. The first thing I notice is a burst of spices - cardamom and slightly bitter oregano. Not a hint of greenery; everything is very restrained. Next comes rosemary - sharp and pungent, almost camphor-like. And fresh, leathery vetiver. Gradually, the oregano becomes softer, like a spice from a glass jar. The last thing that lingers on the skin is an ethereal, resinous blend of oud and labdanum... And there’s something else that makes you inhale the scent more deeply - and afterward, it’s easier to breathe.
