Review of Goddess Eau de Parfum by Pia Pedersen

The Smell of a Goddess Ginger was her name… she kept her hair long, curly and flowing. The goddess of the street in the small town. She made the men turn their heads. And sometimes the women, too. Balancing on high heels or in flip flops while walking to the Grocery; wearing tight jeans or a skirt. And on Sundays on her way to church - a dress. White with red polka dots. And a white bow above her left ear. She was the dream maker of the place. Little boys wished for her to come and kiss them on the forehead. Young guys dreamt about holding her hand while driving to the beach in their first car. And men… well, they dreamt for sure. Of what is not quite appropriate to write here. But they did… When she passed someone in the street, a smell of vanilla spread. Crept under their noses. Crawled into their mouths, starting the cascades of saliva to run freely. Making them crave their mother’s homemade cookies from a time long gone. The ones with the perfect pinch of ginger and cocoa. The ones that they stole, when mama turned her back for a few seconds. They would quickly run for the door, run outside into the eternal sunshine of their childhood. Run to the playground by the school. To take a ride on the swing while eating the cookie. Usually they would share with friends, but not this cookie. Oh no - this was way too precious! Oh yes! Ginger was the true goddess of the town.
